Summer Tutoring

I cannot believe that we have already made it to the fourth quarter! I hope that you are all enjoying the weather as it begins to warm up.

I know that I have spoken with a couple of you already about tutoring over the summer. However, I wanted to open the option to anyone else interested. Unfortunately, there is only one of me so the space is limited and will be filled on a first come, first serve basis. I am willing to work with your student anywhere from 1 to 2 hours. I am oping to concentrate only on Math, Reading, and English, but will make an exception if necessary.

Hello Again!

I apologize for the delayed update! Life has taken me on a roller coaster ride lately with plenty of ups and downs. However, teaching your wonderful students has kept me encouraged and uplifted.

We are already done 11 weeks of school! It is hard to believe. I cannot believe that time is flying by so quickly. I believe that the students have all made a tremendous improvement from the first quarter to the second quarter and it is extremely evident that they are all trying their hardest to succeed this quarter!

We have a lot of wonderful event coming up the next couple of weeks and I am thrilled to celebrate some of the holidays in class with your students. Nevertheless, I need some donations (if you are willing).

I am looking for the following:
1) A Christmas Tree (small and artificial) If you are going to donate this please contact me first to make sure that I am not getting 21 different trees.
2) A wreath to hang on the door.
3) A wreath hanger.
4) White LED lights to hang on the tree.
* I like the retro/70's colored ornaments and decorations: lime green, pink, purple, and turquoise.*

I hope that you are enjoying the fall weather and the gorgeous leaves changing! It is wonderful to see the world around us changing and knowing that God remains constant.

Miss Brenneman:)

Free at Last!

By now I hope that most of your students have told you about our "escape from slavery" on Friday. We took a mini field trip through the woods on campus as a way of discussing "The Drinking Gourd." We learned that there were a couple of things that we needed to look for in order to know that we were heading North. Ask your students what they are. (They should answer: birds and moss.) It was a great ending to the second weekend of school.

I would like to thank you all for coming out on Tuesday night. It was great to meet several of you again and I pray that you will have a continued interest in your student's education.

The first two weeks of school have confirmed that I am truly fufilling God's plan for my life at this time. This week, one student told me that he wanted to come home with me and it touched my heart. All twenty students have already become a blessing in my life.

Once again, thank you for your prayers and support.

We Made It!

The first week of school is finished and I am very excited about the school year. I hope that your students have shared what we have been doing with you this week. Below are some of the highlights of this week:

1. The students took their first Spelling Test and I am happy to say that the majority of the class passed with flying colors.

2. Justice was in the newspaper. Ask your child what he did.

3. We celebrated three students birthdays: Jada, Julius, and Zorah.

4. We got three marbles in our marble jars.

I had an excellent week and I am excited to begin the second week of school.

Miss B!

Wish List

Here are a couple of items that I would like for our class this year, or "My Wishlist." Please remember that there is no pressure and I do not require you to donate anything.

1. Electric Pencil Sharpener
2. Leveled Readers
3. Tape Dispenser
4. Classical and Praise and Worship CD's (nothing extremely fast). I find instrumental praise has a calming effect as well.
5. Games and Puzzles
6. Scrabble Pieces
7. Books about Europe
8. Pillows for the reading corner (Orange, pink, and yellow are prefered, but we will accept anything!)
9. Prize Items: Marbles for the Marble Jar and Dollar Store Items (your students do not know about the Marble Jar yet.)
10. Educational and Christian Movies (We all love Veggie Tales!)
11. Hanging folders (about 50 are needed-but I can be flexible without)
12. Stereo with tape deck and CD player (Please, please, please do not but a new one. If you have one at home you are not using, we can use it!)
13. Anything else.

Once again, please do not feel pressured to donate anything. I am a new teacher so there are certain things that slipped my mind when preparing for the school year.

Who Am I?

I would like to take a couple minutes and introduce myself to you.

My name is Ms. Brenneman and I am very blessed with the opportunity to teach each and everyone of your second graders this year. I am a recent graduate from Washington Bible College. I was born and raised in York, Pennsylvania and the majority of my family still resides there. Ever since I moved to the Washington D.C. area to attend college, I felt that it was where the Lord was calling me to minister.

I have been a Christian and attended a Bible teaching church for the majority of my
life. However, I am still continuing to grow in my faith and experience God's strength and power. Every time I open God's Word and seek answers, I am amazed by Him. It is my ultimate goal to glorify God in everything I do.

Throughout my college experience I spent many hours at Riverdale Baptist School learning the ins and outs of being a teacher. I got to know the excellent staff God has already implemented at Riverdale and am looking forward to working side by side with them. As the school year begins, I look forward to getting to know each student and working with them to provide a strong desire and appreciation for knowledge of all subjects, most importantly Bible.

I am excited that God has provided me with the opportunity to work with each and everyone of your students this school year.

Ms. Brenneman
